A printed QR code is a promise you cannot take back, because the address lives in the squares. QRFLOW puts a short redirect there instead. The print never changes, where it goes can, and every scan is counted on the way through.

Can you change a QR code after printing it?
Not a plain one, because the address is encoded in the pattern. A dynamic code encodes a short redirect instead, so the printed squares stay the same while the destination behind them is edited whenever you like. QRFLOW makes both. Static codes are free and unlimited with no account. Saved codes on a paid plan are dynamic and counted. You can repoint or pause one from the dashboard, from the API, or by asking an AI assistant.
The problem
Two thousand table cards, and the menu moved
A cafe prints table cards with a code on every one. Six months later the menu moves to a new page, and every card in the room now opens a page that is gone. Nothing is wrong with the cards. Nothing is wrong with the printing. The only way to fix it is to print them all again.
The same thing happens to a sign rider when the house sells, and to a poster when the campaign ends. It happens to a sticker on a box that shipped before the manual was rewritten. The print was right on the day. The internet moved.

The link is inside the pattern
A plain QR code is not a pointer to a record somewhere. The address is encoded in the squares themselves. Change the address and you have a different picture, which means a different print run.
Print outlives the page behind it
Menus get rewritten. Listings sell. Campaigns end. The sticker on the window was printed once and is still there, still pointing at whatever it pointed at in March.
A free generator gives you nothing back
Most of them hand over a PNG and forget you. Nobody counts the scans, nobody tells you the destination went dead, and there is no record of the code existing at all.
Some of them expire on purpose
A few generators make the code free and then put the redirect behind a subscription. Stop paying and the printed code stops working. That is a decision made after you printed.
What QRFLOW does about it
Put a redirect in the squares, not a destination
A dynamic code encodes a short link on a domain we run, or on one of yours. The phone reads that, asks where it goes, and is sent on. Because the answer is looked up at scan time rather than printed into the pattern, it can be a different answer tomorrow.
That one change is what makes the rest possible. The redirect is a place to count the scan and to pause a code. It is also where a password goes, or an expiry date you choose. A static code does none of that, because nothing of ours sits in the middle.

Save it if it might change
A saved code on a paid plan is dynamic. The printed squares are fixed from that moment, and the destination behind them is not.
Print it, then keep using it
Repoint it when the menu changes. Pause it when the sale ends. Read the scan count to find out which placement did the work.

It works inside your AI assistant
QRFLOW publishes a Model Context Protocol server. That is the piece a service puts up so an assistant can act inside it rather than just describe it. There is one address for every assistant, https://qrflow.codes/mcp. Six of them can use it today: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code and Windsurf.
Each takes about a minute to connect and asks for a sign-in once. After that the asking is done the way you would say it out loud. Make a code for this link. Point the table cards at the new menu. Make forty from this spreadsheet, one per table. Tell me how many people scanned the poster last week.
An assistant will happily draw you a QR code without any of this, and that picture is frozen the moment it is made. A code made through QRFLOW is a record in your account instead, tagged with what made it. Somebody who has never opened an assistant can edit it later. The connector works on every plan, including the free one.

Making and downloading a static code is free, with no account and no limit on how many. A free code carries a small QRFLOW mark in the corner.
Premium is $4 a month, or $36 a year. It makes codes dynamic, removes the mark, counts every scan, adds logos, frames and SVG export, and connects a link domain of your own. Business is $29 a month and adds five seats, five link domains, API keys, webhooks, GS1 codes and higher bulk limits.

Questions people ask before they print
Can you change a QR code after it is printed?
Not a plain one. The address is encoded in the pattern, so changing it makes a different picture. A dynamic code gets around this by encoding a short redirect instead. The printed squares stay the same forever and the destination behind them can be edited any time. On QRFLOW that is what a saved code on a paid plan does.
Do QR codes expire?
The pattern itself never expires. It is just an address, and any phone camera will read it in twenty years. What expires is the page it opens, or, with some generators, the redirect they run on your behalf. QRFLOW never turns off a static code you downloaded, because there is nothing of ours in it to turn off.
Is QRFLOW.codes free?
Making and downloading a static code is free, with no account and no limit on how many. A free code carries a small QRFLOW mark in the corner. Premium is 4 dollars a month, or 36 dollars a year. That is where a code becomes changeable, loses the mark and starts counting scans.
Can ChatGPT make a QR code?
On its own it will write a few lines of Python and hand back a picture. It scans, and it is frozen the moment it is made. Nothing has a record of it and nobody can repoint it. Connected to QRFLOW, the same request makes a real code in your account that you can edit later.
Can Claude make a QR code?
Yes, through the QRFLOW connector. Add the address under Customize, then Connectors, sign in once, and then ask for what you want in plain words. It can make codes, change where they point, pause them and read their scan counts.
How do I connect QRFLOW to an AI assistant?
There is one address for every assistant: https://qrflow.codes/mcp. Claude and ChatGPT add it through their own connector settings. Claude Code takes one command. Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf each take one entry in a config file. Each asks for a sign-in the first time and never again.
What is an MCP server?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is the piece a service publishes so an AI assistant can act inside it rather than only describe it. Without one, an assistant can tell you how to use a website. With one, it can go and do the thing in your account.
Does an assistant see my other QR codes?
It sees the codes in the account that signed in, and nothing else. The sign-in uses OAuth, and the token an assistant gets is bound to the connector it was issued for. The same token is refused by the REST API.
How big should a QR code be printed?
At least one inch, about two and a half centimeters, for anything read from arm’s length. Bigger for anything read from further away, and the rule of thumb is a tenth of the scanning distance. Dark code on a light background, matte rather than gloss, with clear space around it.
Can I put my logo in the middle of the code?
Yes, on a paid plan. A QR code carries enough error correction to survive a logo, as long as the logo covers no more than about a fifth of it. Contrast matters more than size. Keep it dark on light, above a 3 to 1 ratio, and test the printed one first.
Can the short link use my own domain?
Yes. Premium connects one domain and Business connects five. It is one DNS record and about five minutes, and then the link printed under the code is your name instead of ours. Codes you already made keep working while you switch.
